Newtown! You’ve Come to the Right Place!
A gentleman stopped by my office on South Main Street in Newtown, last week, looking for directions to Hattertown Road. I asked some pertinant questions about his destination, and understood he was looking for Holcombe Hill Wildlife Preserve. It has the highest elevation point in the area, he was told, but he couldn’t find it. Well, he’d come to the right place! Of course, I could help. I’m a 25 year resident and a Newtown Realtor. I know the destination well!
Holcombe Hill Wildlife Preserve boasts 86 acres and is on Great Hill Road. It was donated to the Newtown Forest Association in 1997 by the estate of Josephine Holcombe. With an elevation of 830 ft above sea level, it is indeed the highest point in town. He’ll find dramatic and eye-catching views of 3 counties. I couldn’t think of a better place to be going on one of our few spring-like days.
No Need to Apologize. Stop by Anytime.
The gentleman apologized for interrupting me, and said he really needed to get to know the GPS on his phone. There just wasn’t enough time to do it! He apologized, again.
I was happy to help, I told him. Besides, what could be better than stopping by and talking to a person? It’s better than being isolated and wrapped up in our technology as so many of us are these days.
What a pleasant surprise!
I gave the gentleman my business card to have in case he got lost in Newtown on the way. Later, he gave me a call– just wanted to let me know he had found the place, and thanked me again for my help. I was glad for the call– he was on my mind. What a pleasant surprise!
