While you would think winter isn’t exactly the season to worry about your A/C working properly, it’s actually one of the better times to get it looked at. Good HVAC guys are in short supply so when the first heat waves of summer roll around, they get booked FAST. The best way to ensure you get quality service at decent hours and a decent rate would be to have them come over BEFORE the panic rush of last second worrywarts.
So what exactly do you want to check for? You need to ensure that the unit is nice and clean: compressor fan, duct work, and air handler.
Clean the leaves off of the compressor fan and cover it for the winter snow.
We’ve mentioned how to clean ducts (focus on the grates and not inside the ducts themselves).
Last but certainly not least you need to ensure that the air handler is clean. Ensure the evaporator coils aren’t don’t get frozen or else you’ll have your AC unit randomly turning on and off.
Remember, beware the dreaded FROZEN COILS.
