Windsor Locks Canal Trail
The canal is an 8-mile paved trail along the Connecticut River. There is an abundance of birds and the park’s habitat creates a hotspost for migrant birds year-round. Look for perched eagles along the tree tops.
Westmoor Park, West Hartford
Westmoor Park is a 162-acre park known for its beautiful gardens, barnyard animals, and agriculture education center. The park also has woodland trails and wildflower meadows which provide the perfect habitat to discover an assortment of birds.
Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford
This famous 270-acre cemetery is perfect for bird watching. The different habitats have created a hotspot for migration birds, especially warblers in the spring time.
Wethersfield Cove
This historic inlet is a popular location for fishing and provides easy access to the Connecticut River. During the summer you can watch osprey hunt the cove for fish. During the winter, bald eagles thrive off the cove for food.
Major Michael Donnelly Land Preserve, South Windsor
Donnelly Land Preserve provides the perfect family hike. The trails are not long and can be done in 45 minutes. There are also many spots to birdwatch.
