Easy Ways to Winterize Your House

With a few affordable products and a little effort, you can ensure your home with be comfortable during the winter months. Your goal is to reduce cold air from entering your home.

Suggestions for Winterizing Your Home

  • Clean the gutters. If your gutters are clogged, water won’t be able to drain efficiently from your roof and can cause ice dams. This could damage the roof.
  • Uncover/cover vents. A few magnetic vent covers will allow you to block off vents that are drafty.
  • Install door stoppers. No exterior door will have a perfect seal. A door stopper will prevent cold drafts from entering your home.
  • Install outdoor faucet covers to protect the faucets from freezing.
  • Install window film to add effective insulation.
  • Add some pipe insulation tubes. Frozen pipes are no fun and costly.
  • Install air conditioner covers to prevent cold air from migrating into your house.
  • Hang up thermal curtains to stop drafts from penetrating into the room.
  • Use an attic stair insulation cover to reduce loss of heat.
  • Put on a water heater blanket and save significantly on energy costs.
