Exploring Connecticut’s Scenic Northeast
Northeastern Connecticut has always been a popular destination for RV exploration and is home to some of the best RV parks and campgrounds around. Nearby activities include hiking, fishing, kayaking, swimming and best of all, just plain old relaxing!
The pandemic has greatly increased the popularity of RV travel, with more Americans than ever purchasing their own RVs. The appeal of traveling in your quarters, exploring nature and being outdoors as much as possible is encouraging people to pursue. Best of all when, it comes time to rest your head for the night and retire to your own accommodations is now more alluring than ever.
Take the Scenic Route
Several scenic drives in the area offer picturesque views, winding roads, and even some quaint roadside pit stops. A 36 mile drive on Route 169 runs from Norwich to East Woodstock. It takes you woodlands and farmsteads with postcard worthy views of rivers and rolling green hills. Plan to stop for a bite to eat at Vanilla Bean Cafe’ as well as Mashamoquet Brook State Park.
Where to Stay
There are no shortages of RV parks and campgrounds in the area. Many are located near or on the water. Some are more secluded with scenic woods and lots of hiking trails.
Wilderness Lake, Willington. Wilderness Park is an RV Park, campground and recreation area and is located minutes from Interstate 84. It’s set on over 100 acres of pristine countryside offering swimming, boating, fishing, mini-golf, hiking trails, volleyball court, and more.
Beaver Pines, Woodstock. Bordering on Nipmuck State Forest is this small family owned campground. There are 25 miles of trails for hiking or mountain biking.
Campers World, Griswold. Located on Hopeville Pond, Campers World is open 6 months a year. There are a ton of onsite activities including fishing, kayaking, canoeing, swimming and biking.
Countryside RV Park, Griswold. Escape from urban life to the country. Enjoy swimming and the sandy beach. Not too far from the park are shops, restaurants and attractions.
